Gantt History

Gantt and Point A Lakes generates electricity for the Southeast and is owned by Powersouth located in Andalusia. The source of water for these two lakes is the Conecuh River which begans in the Troy, Al area and flows south through Dozier, Gantt, Andalusia and merges with the Yellow River on into Pensacola. Gantt Lake is the upper Lake and is approx 2200 acre Lake and the powerplant and dam separates the two lakes with Point A Lake being the lower lake and is approx a 1100 acre lake.

These two lakes are enjoyed for its water recreation of fishing, boating, and swimming. Fishing tournaments are popular year round along with the fireworks displays on the 4^th of July that attracts many visitors to the area.
